WMF includes:
Windows PowerShell,
Windows PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC),
Windows Remote Management (WinRM),
Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).
WMF 5.1
WMF 5.1 can be installed only on Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 2008 R2 SP1, Windows 8.1, or Windows 7 SP1WMF 5.1 requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 or above.WMF 5.1 needs to be installed on top of WMF 4.0 on Windows Server 2012.The WMF 4.0 Download appears to be no longer available from Microsoft.The latest versions of Powershell are standalone and do not require WMF.If you need later versions of the other components, consider an OS upgrade.WMF 5.1
