  • 196 (0xC4) Reallocation Event Count

should be 0 (zero)
  • 5 (0x05) Reallocated Sector Count

should be 0 (zero)
  • 197 (0xC5) Current Pending Sector Count

should be 0 (zero)

NOTE: A study at Google in 2006 found that 36% of failed drives did so without recording any S.M.A.R.T. errors and 56% failed without recording any count for the four key warnings detailed above. Always have a backup.
